After a quick phone call from Melanie, I was on my way to Sydney Park at St Peters (Inner West of Sydney). Melanie had been playing around in the park and decided to put her wedding and engagement ring in her pocket for safe keeping. After she had finished her activities, she reached into her pockets only to find both rings we’re missing. I mentioned to Melanie I would hop in the car and meet her at the park ASAP. Two rings sitting in the grass of a busy park would get picked up in no time. About 30 minutes later I arrived at the park and met Melanie and her husband. Melanie mentioned to me she had both good and bad news. The good news being her husband found the rings in the grass with a flash light. And the bad news being I had driven out there for no reason hehe. Melanie and her husband obviously felt bad that I had driven out there on a Sunday night, and offered me more money than my regular call out fee. I could not accept the extra money as I was not the one who found the rings. My primary concern was that Melanie had her rings back on her finger. I told Melanie and her husband there is no reason to feel bad. This has happened many times before, and is just a part of the job I love

Last week I received a phone call from commercial diver Nathan. He had been asked to search for a lost diamond ring which was dropped in the water somewhere near Cottage Point. The ring’s owner, Edwina, was thinking clearly at the time she lost the ring…dropping a bag of sinkers in the water to mark the area. Edwina and her relatives had spent many hours searching for the ring to no avail. Nathan knew the chances of recovery without the use of an underwater metal detector would be very slim, so he called me to help out. After a boat ride to the location, Sarah (Edwina’s Sister) showed us the area the ring was lost. Much to my surprise the water was crystal clear, and the bottom was beautiful white sand. Sarah jumped in the water and located the bag of sinkers which marked the are of the lost ring. Nathan and I geared up and began the hunt. About 5 minutes into the search I received a nice solid signal from the metal detector. I begin to fan the sand away with my hand, revealing a beautiful gold/diamond ring. I returned the ring to Sarah who was one happy lady! The ring had been passed down from Edwina/Sarah’s grandmother, so it was one of those things that cannot be replaced. I want to thank Sarah and her family for a generous reward. And also thanks to Nathan who co-ordinated the entire recovery. I am sure we will continue working together in the future

I always find it amazing how Rings can hide in even the most conspicuous of places. I drove out to Marrickville yesterday to help Andrew find his lost white gold wedding ring. Actually, to be precise, I was looking for half of Andrew’s wedding ring. It was a two piece ring which fell off Andrews finger when throwing a ball to his dog. Andrew found one half, but had no luck in locating the second half. When I arrived, I noticed the area where Andrew had lost the ring had good visibility. There was only small patches of grass where the ring could possibly hide. As I looked around the area, I was thinking surely the Ring could not be there…perhaps it launched over the fence and into the neighbour’s backyard. Anyway, I turned on the Metal Detector and began scanning the area where the other half of the ring was found. A few minutes later, I received a good signal in a grass patch, right next to a wooden garden perimeter. As I parted the grass to the side, I saw Andrew’s gold wedding ring sitting in a crack between the grass and the wood. I want to thank Andrew for a generous reward, even though it was a quick recovery.

I received a phone call from Michael last Friday morning. Michael had lost his wedding ring while playing football at an oval in Engadine, about an hour drive south of Sydney. Fortunately for me, Michael felt the ring fall off his finger as he was passing the ball…so he had an idea of the area the ring could have dropped. Being a public area, I told Michael I would be there as soon as I could. I organised to meet Michael’s wife Kim at the football oval that evening. I had Tony from Metal Detecting Services with me from the previous job, and he said he would be happy to help out again with this particular job. Kim showed us the area her husband believed his lost gold wedding band to be, and we got straight to work. Tony began to cover one half of the search area, while I hunted the other. To be honest, I figured this job would take 20 minutes at most with both of us covering the area. But as it turned out we spent almost 2 hours searching before I stumbled upon the lost ring. The ring was actually a good distance from the area Kim showed us, which is often the case. We we’re both very happy to return the Ring to Kim and get back into our warm cars. Once again, I want to thank Tony from Metal Detector Services for helping out with this job. If it wasn’t for you I would probably have been in the freezing cold for another 2 hours.

I received a phone call from David this morning. He had this misfortune of losing his wedding ring for the second time. First time he recovered the ring himself, but this time he was having no luck. He was 95% sure he lost the ring in his back yard while pushing his kids on a swing. But he did not actually feel the moment the ring fell off his finger. I drove out to Roseville, just north of Chatswood on Sydney’s Upper North Shore. David was at work at the time, but his wife showed me the area the ring could have fallen. There was a lot of thick grass where David’s wedding ring could have been hiding. I began my usual grid pattern in the area David was pushing the swing. I then worked my way down to a wire fence. I was receiving lots of signals, but non of them was the ring. I decided to start searching the other side of the swing and work my way up towards the house. It wasn’t long after that I received a nice smooth sound from my detector. I checked the depth on the display..and it indicated 0.5 inchs deep. I thought cool, this could be Davids wedding ring. I lifted a large leaf which was covering the signal area…and there it was, David’s gold wedding band. It had fallen into an indentation in the grass. The photo attached is in the exact spot I found the ring. David’s wife was very pleased the ring was back in their possession

I managed to go out for a treasure hunt on Friday, which is very rare these days since I started offering my services to the public. I went to my local beach, Balmoral. Besides finding the usual bottle caps, pulltabs and coins, I managed to find this beautiful men’s gold watch in the sand. If you are the owner of this watch, and can prove you are the owner by either identifying the brand, or providing a photo/receipt of the watch…I would be very happy to return it to you.

I found this beautiful gold ladies ring at the same beach as the bracelet in the blog entry below. As pictured, the ring has two heart shapes with a small diamond in each heart. Once again, this is another ring without any engravings (besides the hallmark)…so if you believe you are the owner of the ring, you will have to prove it to me by either a photo, or by letting me know where and what beach the ring was lost. Until then, my girlfriend is taking good care of it
Would be nice to reunite this ring with it’s owner.

While hunting Brighton-Le-Sands Beach recently, I found what is most likely a men’s silver bracelet. As pictured, the bracelet is quite large, and fits very loosely around my wrist. I am guessing the owner was a larger person. There is only one small engraving on the clasp. If you have lost a silver bracelet at Brighton Beach, and can prove this by identifying the small engraving, have a photo, or can tell me exactly where on Brighton Beach the bracelet was lost…I will greatfuly return the lost bracelet back to you.

I went for a treasure hunt the other day at Brighton-Le-Sands beach, just south of Sydney Airport. Since starting this website, and offering my services to the public, I do not get out as much as I would like. It happened to be a cloudy day, and the beach was almost empty. The tide was extremely low due to the full moon, so I decided to see what treasures lie beneath the water. I managed to dig up two very strange rings in the one scoop. When I first saw the Rings in the scoop, I thought they we’re pieces of metal that a bolt would screw into. I was almost about to put them in the junk pile when I noticed what looked like a small diamond on one side of this strange square shaped object. After a closer look, I noticed an engraved hallmark on the inside of the ring. These Rings must have been under water for some time, as they had turned a copper like colour. After taking them home, and cleaning them up…they are looking a lot better. Because they are very unique rings, so I am hoping some day I will reunite them with their right full owner. If you believe these are your lost square rings, and can identify the engravings..or even have a photo wearing the rings, please contact me. It would be an honour to return these very unique rings.
